--Gary Kovacic was recognized as the 2007 "Citizen of the Year" by the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce for his dedication to community service. Gary has long been an active participa nt in the Arcadia community serving ten years on the Arcadia City Council, including four terms as mayor, and editing the book Visions of Arcadia: A Centennial Anthology.
--Gary Kovacic and Karyn McCreary both served as contributing editors to the April 2007 revisions to the third edition of the treatise Nichols on Eminent Domain, the leading national treatise on the law of eminent domain.
--Joseph Dzida and Daniel Pranata successfully briefed and argued the published case of Stewart v. Seward (2007) 148 Cal.App.4th 1513 before the Court of Appeal of California. The Stewart decision definitively established that the statute of limitations for actions against the decedent for failure to effect a distribution of property from the estate is one year from the date of the decedent’s death. It further established that the one year statute of limitations could not be tolled and that no other statute of limitations period applied to this type of claim.
--Charles Callanan completed a complex multi-million dollar prop erty sale on behalf of one of the clients of the firm and opened escrow for another client in a similar multi-million dollar transaction.
